Portable Appliance Testing is a very necessary part of your organisation's Health and Safety regime.  The Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989 places a duty of care on employers and landlords to maintain electrical systems to prevent danger. This includes portable electrical appliances.

Insurance companies are now insisting on PAT Testing being carried out every 12 months or less to satisfy the conditions of their policy and local council inspectors.

Electricity kills and injures people and around 1000 electrical accidents at work are reported to HSE each year.  Many of these injuries are a result of poorly maintained electrical equipment, inappropriate electrical equipment used in unsuitable places, fires started by poorly maintained electrcial equipment and damaged electrical equipment still in use.

Our PAT Testing Service is in keeping with  standards set  by the IET's Code of Practice for Inservice Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.  This ensures that our standards conform to HSE guidelines.  A test operative  will perform the PAT test.  A test operative is not a qualified electrician, but a competent person who has experience of test and inspection and trained specifically in PAT inspection work.  Evidence of our PAT tester's  training is available for inspection should you require this.

PAT testing is strongly recommended, not only will it provide a strong defence in the event that an accident or fire occurs but will also ensure you ,your employees colleagues and customers are safe.
